JOB TITLE: Executive Director

PROGRAM: Administration

SUPERVISOR: BWCA Board of Directors

STATUS: Professional, Exempt

WAGES: $64,116-$112,476

The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out both the general and specific goals and objectives set by the Board of Directors for BWCA. This includes administrative, regulatory, and executive duties; fiscal and accounting responsibilities; programmatic development, supervision, monitoring and evaluation; personnel supervision and management; communication with the Board of Directors and other community agencies; and other duties established by the Board of Directors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – JOB SPECIFIC

1. Administrative: Assures the efficient and effective operation of the Agency in terms of all fiscal, programmatic, administrative, record-keeping, personnel, and other management duties assigned by the Board of Directors. In addition to the above duties, the Executive Director provides the communication link between the Board of Directors and the various program components. This includes providing all information needed or requested by the Board of Directors through regularly scheduled Board meetings.

2. Program/Service Functions: The Executive Director will continue to develop, monitor and assess all program components established by the Board of Directors. This presently includes: BWCA Administration and Management, Money Management, Weatherization, Housing, Asset Development and other services offered now or in the future by the Agency. The Executive Director assumes all responsibility for the day-to-day activities directly related to the above programs and ensures that they meet all contractual and regulatory goals and objectives.

3. Supervision, Monitoring and Direction of Agency Staff: The Executive Director is responsible for the consistent implementation of all personnel policies and procedures. This may include hiring, monitoring, disciplining, evaluating, transferring, and termination of all employees within the Agency. The Executive Director shall ensure that all Agency, local, governmental, state, and federal laws and regulations are consistently and fairly implemented throughout the agency.

4. Agency Representation: The Executive Director is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of community-based working relationships with other agencies, social groups, advisory groups, and other community resources in order to represent and advocate for the consumers of BWCA services. This may include attendance at various inter-agency meetings and participation in various community-based activities.

5. Other: Additional duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ORGANIZATIONAL

1. Demonstration of Values: Understand BWCA’s mission and purpose. Adhere to BWCA standards of conduct, program philosophy (where applicable), and cultural contract.

2. Customer Service: Provide high quality customer service in a prompt, respectful, and professional manner. Conduct formal/informal assessment of eligibility for BWCA programs and make referrals as appropriate.

3. Quality of Work: Consistently perform job duties accurately and timely; cost conscious when utilizing materials and resources; seek opportunities for improving processes; and, meet commitments and deadlines.

4. Flexibility/Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change and to recommendations for improving job performance in a positive manner.

5. Safety: Demonstrate safe work habits. Report unsafe conditions and incidents. Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.

6. Teamwork: Effectively participate as a team member at multiple organizational levels and across departments.

7. Goals: Understand and meet organizational goals/objectives related to position including agency strategic plan, ROMA plan, as well as taking on duties that are not related to position as supports for management staff/support staff to reach goals/objectives. MGT: Team achieves outcomes.

8. Communication: Effectively communicate with other staff, clients, partners, and the public in a manner that is tactful, sensitive, and respectful. Demonstrate active listening. Body language and tone are consistent with verbal messages. Demonstrates friendly, positive “can do” attitude: Oral and written communications are clear, concise and accurate; Keep team members informed.

9. Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information.

10. Improvement: Continually improve skills through a variety of opportunities external and internal with particular attention to areas identified in the Professional Development Plan and other goals set related to improvement. Improve outcomes results of assessments related to job position, client outcomes, and organizational goals. Attend staff pre/in-services and other training opportunities as available.

11. Compliance to Policy: Understand and comply with organization and regulating policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or related experience.

2. 10 years demonstrated successful leadership experience with a history of job growth and advancement, preferably with non-profit organizations.

3. In-depth knowledge of non-profit governance principles and managerial best practices.

4. Ability to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques.

5. Strong understanding of corporate finance and measure of performance.

6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

7. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

8. Knowledge of local community dynamics and issues.
