Overview:

We are a small private school seeking a passionate and creative art teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire and instruct students in various art forms, fostering creativity and appreciation for the arts.

Job Summary:

In collaboration with school faculty, the teaching artist plans and facilitates instruction (for grades 1-8) and displays student art projects aligned with the school’s curriculum.

Schedule:

Approx. 8 to 12 hrs per week, onsite.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Planning instruction
• Prepares lessons appropriate for the participating student population.
• Selects appropriate resources and art supplies.
• Designs classroom routines and procedures that facilitate a well ordered and safe learning environment.
• Facilitating instruction
• Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
• Instructs in a variety of art techniques/mediums (painting, sketching, sculpture, prints, etc..)
• Demonstrates method and procedure to pupils.
• Observes and evaluates pupils' work to determine student progress.
• Provides supportive and clear feedback to students to promote further learning.
• Establishes and maintains consistent expectations for student behavior and participation.
• Performs other related work as required.
• Displays student work
• Creates attractive community displays (bulletin boards, interest centers, art gallery, art walk, etc.).
• May direct planning and supervision of student contests and arranging of art exhibits.
• Maintains school art supplies and space.
• Selects and requisitions instructional materials.
• Maintains a clean and organized art room, supply closet, and sink room cleanup.

Education and Experience:

• Associates or higher degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in a classroom or art workshop setting.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexible and adaptable in various situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds.
• Required to maintain composure and cope gracefully with the unexpected.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
