Jenison Innovative Academy Full Time Online Instructor Required Qualifications:
State of Michigan teaching certification required in Social Studies (RX) for grades 6-12
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Commitment to educational excellence
Curricular knowledge consistent with secondary social studies education
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful teaching experience at the junior high and/or senior high level
Strong instructional technology experience (preferably within an LMS)
Responsibilities:
Report to JIA campus daily from 8:00am – 3:00pm
Participate in professional development for successful online and hybrid teaching & learning
Instruct social studies courses online within Blackboard, customizing content for students as needed
Serve as a mentor teacher for students in 11th grade
Communicate weekly with students and parents, providing a supportive online teacher presence
Supervise in-person and virtual learning center (LC) tutoring sessions throughout the week, also hosting (inperson) and virtual activities and academic advising
Host live instructional sessions for each course assigned
Monitor student academic progress and attendance/engagement data weekly
Proctor grade-level, school-wide assessments
Follow academic support plans for struggling students, working closely with the JIA Lead Teacher & Assistant Principal
Attend parent-teacher conferences
Uphold all JIA Handbook expectations and policies
