Barkingham Palace, Burnet County’s most exciting pet care business, is looking for an Assistant General Manager that shares the same enthusiasm for dogs and high standards of pet care.

We’re a family-owned business and have been providing superior pet care for more than 18 years. We provide high-quality services including pet lodging, fun doggie daycare, grooming, bathing, and professional dog training services.

We’re currently seeking a high-energy, customer service-focused, enthusiastic individual to fill the full-time Assistant General Manager position. The ideal candidates should be able to step in and be hands-on team members supporting all departments with supervisory authority to ensure exceptional care is provided.

  • Loves dogs and has a positive attitude!
  • Previous management experience (pet care-related industry is a plus)
  • Leads by example by being a professional and respectful example for the team
  • Knowledge of the importance of safety and sanitary standards and willingness to uphold them
  • Ability to handle busy daily schedule and ensure completion of daily goals
  • Ability to consistently hold individuals accountable when necessary
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, time management skills, & attention to detail
  • Not afraid to step in and get your hands dirty when needed

Duties

  • Assuring procedural compliance with staff members
  • Interviewing and hiring of new staff members
  • Monitoring safety and health protocols to ensure exceptional pet care
  • Communicate with pet parents on pet wellness and/or health concerns
  • Coaching, motivating, and training employees
  • Conducting regular facility walkthroughs to ensure safe & sanitary conditions, and tour readiness
  • Leading community outreach and social media efforts
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance and address issues as appropriate
  • Utilize reports and metrics to monitor and manage staff schedules, associated labor costs, and additional operating expenditures

Candidates who are successful in this position may have previous kennel manager, veterinary manager, animal care manager, hotel, retail store manager, or assistant general manager experience. Candidates with a strong record of management success in alternate fields will also be considered.
