Job Summary:
This position directly reports to the Senior Practice Manger and collaborates with front and back-office staff to achieve near and long-term organizational goals. The Front Office Receptionist/Back Office Medical Assistant Float is responsible for aiding patients, doctors, office employees, and other individuals. This employee helps the practice run smoothly. A successful candidate must have excellent phone etiquette and be comfortable working with patients in a clinical environment. Must be familiar with medical terminology. Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
Essential Functions of the Position:
● Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
● Patient registration and scheduling
● Patient check in/out
● Retrieve authorizations from fax daily and schedule patients accordingly
● Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider.
● Retrieves patient files checks for correct sequence of papers, inserts new patient record forms, and places files in sequence for physician examination or treatment.
● Assists in getting the super bills ready for each encounter of the day
● Endeavors to keep patients on schedule by reminding provider of service delays
● Escort patients to exam rooms measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
● Interview patients and document basic medical history, chief complaint, medication list, allergies, etc into EMR
● Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy
● Assist physicians during medical examinations
● Setup injections for patients
● Assist with language translation as necessary
● Maintain log in for Quest Labs, Radnet, RIMA
● Provide x-ray orders to x-ray technician
Education and Experience:
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Medical Assisting Certification
● Bilingual (Spanish) is required
● Must have experience working as a back-office medical assistant and front office receptionist
● Casting experience is a plus
● Must have experience working with EMR systems
● Experience working with hospital EMR and eCW is preferred
● Must have medical terminology knowledge
● Excellent verbal and written communication

● Must understand HIPAA and other patient privacy laws.
