Our Tour Guides get to drive our tour guests to the Zipline Course or throughout the Santa Margarita Ranch. Tour guides get to interact with our guests with from the very beginning all the way to the end of their tour. Our Tour Guides play many roles, from a knowledgeable historian who educates our guests to that of a Zipline Guide who also sends and receives guests on the Zipline Tour. You get the best of both worlds!

Margarita Adventures is the tourism arm of a small group of companies situated within and all involved closely on the sprawling 14,000-acre historical Santa Margarita Ranch, located on California’s Central Coast, nestled between the Santa Lucia Mountain Range and Paso Robles Wine Country. Affiliates include the Santa Margarita Ranch, Santa Margarita Cattle Company, Margarita Vineyards, and Ancient Peaks Winery.

Margarita Adventures offer a total of six ziplines, all linked together soaring over our majestic oak tree lined valleys amidst breathtaking views of Margarita Vineyards and the Santa Lucia Mountain Range.

Ranging in length from 500-2800 feet and in height from 20-160 feet, there is no shortage speed, fun and adventure!

Job Description:

Tour Guides are responsible for ensuring the safe transit to and from course of all Margarita Adventures guests, all while providing exceptional, above and beyond service and valuable insight on the history and inner workings of the broader Santa Margarita Ranch and its surrounding area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Checking in and inspecting vehicles each morning prior to heading out on tour to ensure it is safe for passage to and from the course, transiting guests to and from our office and zipline course (3-5 tours each day), greeting guests upon arrival and assisting office staff with check in, sending guests down the first zipline on the tour, guest interaction throughout the tour making them feel welcome and ensuring a memorable trip, and end-of-day vehicle cleaning and sanitization.

Essential Duties and Functions:

• Conducting daily vehicle inspections per DOT requirements.
• Ensuring the safe transit of guests to and from course.
• Conducting daily post-tour vehicle cleaning and disinfecting.
• Guest education of ranch and surrounding area including historical facts and local terrain, flora and fauna.
• Ensuring the safety and physical wellbeing of all guests while on tour.
• Establish a positive and friendly rapport with each tour group and guest; making yourself available to address any customer questions or concerns to provide the most impactful, memorable experience possible for all.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of a valid California Commercial Class C driver license with a commercial/passenger endorsement. Class A & B license okay as well as long as you possess a passenger endorsement.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all age groups.
• Must display an outgoing and friendly attitude both with guests and other employees to promote a positive work environment and memorable customer experience.
• Must have a great attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time both calmly and effectively.
• Must love working and being in the outdoors with the ability to stand and hike on a variety of terrain, in all weather conditions for an extended period of time.
• Must have a clean driving record, with no accidents or infractions for a period of two or more years.
• Must have the ability to lift 50lbs.
• Prior zipline, climbing, high ropes, or outdoor industry experience and plus but not required. We will train the right candidate!
• Must be proficient in the English language, with the ability to converse in Spanish and other languages a plus.

Alcohol and Drug Testing:

• Drivers may not arrive to work under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescription or otherwise) and are forbidden to consume either or both during their shift or while on the premises. Due to the position’s safety requirements, guides will be subject to a pre-employment drug screening and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Availability:

• Must be available to work early mornings, weekends and holidays. Ability to work weekdays a plus.

Must be able to work at least one weekend day a week.

• Commercial Drivers License (Required) - Must be at least a Commercial Class C with a passenger endorsement endorsement. Commercial Class A or B good too as long as you possess a valid passenger endorsement.
