GREATER OMAHA CHAMBER is Hiring a Business Attraction and Expansion Manager Near Omaha, NE

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Proactively work with existing industry and new-to-market businesses to grow Greater Omaha’s regional economy via the creation of quality jobs and capital investment. This position will build relationships with businesses both within and outside the Greater Omaha region to identify economic development projects and manage the relationship from first contact to completed project.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the senior department leadership implementing a strategic and proactive business recruitment program that will benefit all areas of the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership (GOEDP) region.

2. Coordinate recruitment activities with the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the Omaha Public Power District and other allies actively involved in recruitment to extend our reach and maximize impact.

3. Conduct business retention and expansion (BRE) visits on a regular basis, scheduling time each week to reach out to 1-5 businesses for a BRE visit.

4. Assistance with various Chamber and GOEDP meetings and functions as required.

5. Participate in the corporate headquarters visitation program to out-of-state headquarter locations of Greater Omaha businesses to ensure continued growth and continuity of their local operations.

6. Establish a positive working relationship with national Site Selectors, real estate brokers, and other consultants involved in economic development through proactive reach outs and communication.

7. Track and record all activity in CRM in a real-time basis following established protocol.

8. Provide support and participate in Targeted Advisory Groups (TAGs) and Chamber Councils as needed.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attend/work a variety of Chamber events and represent the organization as needed at other business and community programs and events.

2. Provide timely and accurate responses and information on a wide variety of issues and questions about the Chamber and the Greater Omaha region.

3. Represent the Chamber with professionalism and integrity.

4. Actively participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion training in order to advance along one’s own journey of inclusion and acceptance.

5. Other duties as assigned.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:

All expenditures require final approval of Senior Vice President of Economic Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, marketing, education, political science, or related fields.

2. Prefer existing experience in economic development, community development, community and regional planning, marketing, or sales, or transferable skills required.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, DESIGNATIONS

Valid Driver’s License

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Excellent leadership, sales, communication, public speaking, relationship-building, and organizational management skills.

2. Proficiency with a variety of technology including CRM and Microsoft Office suite.

3. Social media knowledgeable – LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook.

4. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines.

5. Excellent attention to detail.

6. Must be a self-starter capable of working with limited supervision.

7. An inclusive mindset with proven ability to work well with all types of people and businesses.

8. Willingness to work flexible hours and juggle several projects at once.

9. Ability to drive and/or provide own transportation to various locations around the city on a regular basis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Typical office environment.

2. Requires long periods of sitting in meetings and standing at Chamber functions.

3. Ability to lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs to assist with department and Chamber events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $62,500.00 per year
