Job Title: Executive Director
Reports to: AFRP Board of Directors
Full-time salaried, occasional weekends and evening events
Compensation: $80,000-$95,000 per year commensurate with experience
Summary:
AFRP is a non-profit 501c3 limited admission foster-based animal rescue with a strong focus to help the most vulnerable community companion animals, combat the overpopulation crisis through focused spay and neuter, and provide animal specific programs to aid our local community.
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization and implementing the strategic direction set forth by the Board of Directors. The role encompasses responsibility for developing and implementing policies, strategizing, organizational growth, and oversees day-to-day management of the organization. The Executive Director serves as an inspiring and engaging face of the organization to the community, advocating for and advancing the organizational mission.
Duties of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:
Executive Director Job Responsibilities/Duties:
● Supervise and partner with Operations Manager to oversee all facets of day-to-day
operations of the organization; including the AFRP clinic, Treasure Shop, AFRP headquarters, and satellite locations.
● Work with the Board to raise funds (donor development, direct mail, grant writing,
special events, marketing, social media & campaign emails, etc.).
● Write/send thank you letters and place phone calls to donors, partners, etc.
● Work with the Board to prepare and manage the annual budget
● Oversee staff recruitment.
● Serve as chief liaison with other community organizations and key constituent
groups.
● Attend all Board meetings.
● Provide reports to the Board and execute board policies.
● Maintain a positive relationship and open communication with the Board of
Directors; inform them of internal and external issues and activities that affect the
organization.
● Oversee all communications including annual reports, direct mail letters, brochures,
fliers, special event materials, etc.
● Ensure the effective and efficient use of the electronic database to guide
communication with donors.
● Ensure all state and local regulations and laws are implemented and followed throughout the organization; including maintaining official records and documents.
● Oversee the implementation of human resource policies and procedures as found
in the AFRP handbook.
● Analyze organizational performance and share performance metrics with the Board
of Directors; develop targeted and measurable plans for improvement when
necessary.
● Work with the board in preparing the annual budget, ensuring that the organization
operates within budget guidelines.
● Work with the accounting firm pm annual review/audit and 990 tax preparation,
1099 forms.
● Assist in euthanasia decisions with the staff veterinarian and key staff as needed.
● Partner with Operations Manager and/or clinic staff to contact outside medical services including emergency care, consult with staff veterinarian to determine treatment.
● On-call 24/7 for foster emergencies and late-night consultations with ER
veterinarians.
● Assist with recruiting and onboarding new board members.
● Oversee annual calendar.
● Renew Registration for Charitable Trusts with the Attorney General annually.
● Register for Raffles annually and file a raffle report with the Attorney General.
● Work with the board treasurer to ensure that compliant and accurate bookkeeping
and accounting procedures are followed.
● Approve and monitor expenditures, maintain and process payroll.
● Work with the board to oversee the organization's investments and to ensure that
the amount of risk and growth potential are balanced and conservative for the
well-being of the organization.
● Prepare financial and statistical reports for Board of Directors meetings.
● Other duties as assigned by the board of directors.
