Yearling Sale Prep Groom (July 15th - August 31st) Horse Experience Required.

Walker Standardbreds is a breeder of Standardbred race horses and is looking for candidates to join our Yearling Sales Prep Team.

Job responsibilities:

• Work with team members to feed, clean barn & turnout yearling’s morning and afternoon.
• Groom yearlings assigned to your care daily including brush, towel, pick feet and bathe.
• Lead yearlings in barn area and eventually around farm property daily.
• Teach yearling to stand and walk correctly for inspection.
• Report behavioral issues or injuries immediately to the Barn Manager
• Participate in yearling video day
• Assist farrier on shoeing days
• Work with team to keep barn and surrounding area clean and neat.
• Work with team to keep barn supplied with feed and bedding
• Participate on Yearling Sale Day – August 31,2024
• Perform other duties as required

Job Skills

• Proven horsemanship skills and horse experience required
• Experience working with show or race horses
• Calm personality around horses

• Reliable transportation
• Valid Driver’s License

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekends as needed
