Job Responsibilities

- Perform routine administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records.

- Assist with patient intake and documentation, including obtaining personal information, medical history, and insurance details.

- Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.

- Compile current prescription records.

- Complete ECG/EKGs and record results in EMR

- Prepare exam rooms with necessary medical instruments before appointments.

- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.

- Provide patients with instructions for medications and diets as prescribed by the healthcare provider.

- Manage inventory of medical supplies and re-order as needed.

- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.

- Educate patients on general health and basic self-care procedures.

- Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), if trained and as needed.

- Update and maintain patient electronic health records (EHR).

- Carry out other duties as assigned within the scope of practice for a CMA.

Job Requirements

- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or equivalent certification.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.

- Minimum of 2 years on the Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.

- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnosis.

- Strong clinical skills including taking vital signs, administering injections, and performing EKGs.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Capable of maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

- Willingness to continue education and training as required by the employer or certification standards.

- Must work every Tuesday and Friday--other days may be flexible.

- Must be willing to drive to our Redding California Clinic one Friday every 6 weeks.

- Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.

- Ability to be self critical while leaving criticism of other staff to management.
