Assistant Volleyball Coach/Classroom Teacher
Department: Middle School, High School, and/or Miner Academy

POSITION SUMMARY - Teach students in one or more subjects, such as English, mathematics, science or social studies at the middle school or high school level as well as assist with volleyball coaching
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  1. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  2. Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  3. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  4. Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
  5. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  6. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  7. Instruct and monitor students in the use of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  8. Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
  9. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons that promote learning, following approved curricula.
  10. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.

  16. Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
  17. Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
  18. Select and use appropriate resources.
  19. Exhibit knowledge of content and content-related pedagogy.
  20. Exhibit knowledge of adolescent development.
  21. Exhibit knowledge of individual students' knowledge, skills, and special needs.
  22. Adhere to student Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans.

Certifications & Licenses:

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Most job responsibilities for this position are performed in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled (heated and cooled) according to the season. Noise levels are mostly low to moderate.

Assistant Girls' Volleyball Coach Job Description
Qualifications: Hold current licensure to teach in a middle school or secondary content area and have a coaching endorsement or documentation of teacher-coach verification through the Arkansas Activities Association.
Primary Function: Content Area Teacher and Volleyball Coach
Major Responsibilities, in addition to Classroom Teacher Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and manage an effective school volleyball program
  • Train volleyball team by providing technical, non-technical and administrative support.
  • Participate in all internal and external volleyball games and provide support and efficient feedback to team.
  • Participate in all coach meetings at various levels and organizations to keep track of latest information and techniques regarding games.
  • Recruit and coach student athletes regularly and ensure that all student athletes take part in practice sessions regularly.
  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes and facilitate participation in summer camp according to institute's rules and regulations.
  • Monitor academic performance and general behavior of student athletes to ensure students perform their studies along with active involvement in volleyball games.
  • Organize, conduct and evaluate individual and team practices, training sessions and various competitions on regular basis to ensure team's progress.
  • Train student-athletes in fundamental volleyball mechanics and techniques and review performance of individual players for providing feedback.
  • Assist and provide guidance to all volleyball players on court and ensure players receive adequate professional support.
  • Maintain equipment inventory for volleyball.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to student-athletes on athletic, academic and personal issues as required.
  • Develop and implement strategies to develop effective student athletes' physical fitness.
  • Administer team and facilitate spirit of sportsmanship, social development and positive relationship in student athletes.
  • Prepare and circulate press release to media as part of media and communication strategy.
  • Maintain a safe atmosphere for student athletes by providing vigilant supervision before, during, and after all volleyball activities, including during school-provided transportation to and from events.
