Title: Bus Driver
Reports To: Memberships Manager
Wage: $18-$25 per hour
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Memberships Manager, operate a Club bus to safely and reliably transport and assist Club members to and from Club programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in maintaining the vehicle in a clean and safe condition, inspecting the vehicle pre/post trip on a daily basis, and promptly reporting and/or correcting any noted defect.
Instruct passenger riders regarding safety
Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather
Drive with safety of passengers as first priority
Maintain good order among Club member passengers both on the vehicle and while at pickup/discharge points
Administer disciplinary procedures in keeping with organizational policies
Be alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies and day-to-day operations.
Participate in school bus emergency evacuation drills
Keep accurate records and reports as required
Conduct yourself as a professional Boys & Girls Club staff member at all times
Additional Responsibilities
Secure a healthy and safe environment, overseeing the maintenance of Club facilities, equipment and supplies.
Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments and/or participate in the implementation of other site activities as necessary.
Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
Abide by and support the Club mission- to inspire and enable all youth to reach their full potential, as caring, productive, and responsible citizens.
Assume other various duties as assigned.
Relationships
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, and provide/receive information. Maintains contact with club professional staff as required. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, and counsel. Must be cooperative, friendly, and create a safe and harmonious environment.
External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members, parents and others to assist in resolving problems, as directed by the Extended Programs Director.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Must possess current Class B or Class C Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement (P).
High School diploma or GED.
Experience working with children.
Knowledge of state laws and local ordinances.
Possess current certificates in and be able to perform CPR and medical First Aid, or the ability to certify upon hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and proper automobile insurance.
Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths’ level.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time.
Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facility, on the property and/or on field trips.
