Job Description

Southfield Law Firm is seeking an experiences Case Manager/ Paralegal for our plaintiff Pre-Litigation department. The ideal candidate will have a strong work history and solid knowledge of PIP ( Personal Injury Protection). Responsibilities will include but not limit to the following:

  • Open new clients files by entering them into case management software and scanning all documents.
  • Gather and confirm receipt of all required forms and authorizations.
  • Prepare and process all forms for no-fault insurance claims and submit to adjuster.
  • Obtain police reports and other documentation in support of the claim(s).
  • Use Lexis to obtain pertinent information about parties and witnesses.
  • Contact investigators as needed or upon request of pre-litigation and litigation attorneys.
  • Follow case direction requests of Pre-Litigation Manager and Litigation attorneys
  • Obtain and review for accuracy all forms for claims including no-fault insurance, premise and dog bite claims and submit to adjuster.
  • Communicate with clients and adjusters to ensure PIP benefits are being processed in a timely manner and if not to assist in rectifying the situation to get benefits reinstated if possible.
  • Communicate with Pre-Litigation Manager on important issues and correct any deficiencies identifies during audits and file reviews.
  • Order medical records and other required records to process claims.
  • Obtain photographs of injured and scenes if applicable.
  • FOIA all necessary documents, videos, and other materials.
  • Assist in the opening of probate files on all cases when needed
  • Adhere to all software written policies and procedures
  • review and process case costs
  • Phone answering backup as needed
  • Meet and exceed KPIs set by manager and COO
  • Collaborates and cooperates with other staff members if requested
  • Demonstrates a willingness to take on new tasks with a good attitude.
  • Attends firm wide meetings as scheduled

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Strong typing and computer skills
  • Understanding of Lexis Advance
  • Strong client service skills including compassion and empathy
  • Ability to both follow instructions and think independently
  • Personable on phone interaction with clients, attorneys. and experts
  • Proficient on computer, internet, required software, and email
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-orientated work environment
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Strong personal focus on meeting or exceeding individual department and firm goals
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in new software and technologies
