Job Summary:
The Tourism Marketing Coordinator will play a crucial role in promoting Carroll County and the Blue Ridge Plateau as a premier travel destination. This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies, creating engaging content, and coordinating promotional activities to enhance the visibility and appeal of Carroll County’s attractions, events, and accommodations. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about tourism and community engagement.

• Marketing Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Tourism Director to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans that align with Carroll County’s tourism goals.
• Content Creation: Create high-quality, engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, blogs, and print materials, to promote local attractions, events, and businesses.
• Social Media Management: Manage and grow Carroll County’s social media presence by developing and scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and analyzing performance metrics.
• Event Promotion: Coordinate marketing efforts for local events and festivals, including creating promotional materials, managing advertising campaigns, and collaborating with event organizers.
• Advertising and Public Relations: Develop and execute advertising campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, print, and broadcast media. Write and distribute press releases and work with media outlets to secure coverage.
• Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders to support tourism initiatives and collaborative marketing efforts.
• Website Management: Maintain and update the tourism website with current information, event listings, and engaging content to attract visitors.
• Market Research: Conduct research to identify tourism trends, target audiences, and competitive analysis to inform marketing strategies.
• Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using data to make informed decisions and optimize future efforts.
• Work at the Visitor Center to assist travelers 1-2 days a week. Saturday availability is required.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing, including social media, SEO, and email marketing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically and execute detailed plans.
• Passion for tourism and promoting local communities.
