Title : Donor Relations Specialist

Reports to : Donor Relations Manager

Job Summary : As an integral part of the Development team, the Donor Relations Specialist assists with cultivating, stewarding, and growing the relationships between CVIM and its donors at all levels.

This position is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive stewardship program that illustrates to donors the impact of their giving.

The Donor Relations Specialist is also responsible for providing planning and logistical support for all donor-related events and for managing the prospect pipeline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Serve as an integral member of the Development team, working closely with staff, Board, and Committee members to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Manage all fundraising and stewardship event planning and management from conception through execution. The calendar currently includes four sizable events per year plus additional small-scale events.

This focus area will continue to grow.

  • Drive collaborative planning and lead the execution of CVIM’s donor stewardship and recognition strategies including multiple giving societies.
  • Draft customized event materials, donor proposals, personal acknowledgments, e-mail communications, and stewardship letters.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to produce event-related materials, including copywriting.
  • Create and implement outreach programs to targeted prospective donor audiences, such as student alumni, young professionals, volunteers, and former volunteers.
  • Utilize the database to efficiently process and acknowledge donor gifts, create fundraising reports, support relationship actions, and diligently track opportunities for the major gifts team.
  • Support related donor-meeting preparation, including the creation of donor profiles, strategy summaries, and collateral materials.
  • Support donor relationship management by conducting prospect / donor research, preparing capacity / affinity reports, evaluating prospects, and ensuring prospects are moved through the pipeline from qualification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years of development experience, ideally with a focus on individual fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success with event management, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Highly collaborative style and cultural competence to work with all constituent groups, including staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, and vendors.
  • Commitment to discretion in dealing with donor information.
  • Strong written and communication skills; ability to present information effectively.
  • Experience managing simultaneous projects and deadlines along with a demonstrated ability to initiate and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to represent CVIM professionally in a variety of settings, develop relationships, promote teamwork, and accomplish common objectives.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Excel and relational databases. Understanding of Donor Perfect would be helpful; not required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Available to work at events held on evenings and weekends.
