JOB TITLE: Day Camp Program Manager

DEPARTMENT: Camping and Recreation

REPORTS TO: Camp & Recreation Director

PAY RANGE: $16.00-$20.00/hour

SHIFT: 8 hours/day Monday – Friday

TIME PERIOD July 1, 2024 – August 16, 2024

LOCATION: Portland

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt, Seasonal

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Day Camp Program Manager will, under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Camp and Recreation Director, provide support, supervision, and leadership to the team of Program Counselors and Camp Volunteers leading up to and during the Easterseals Oregon Summer Day Camp season. The Day Camp Program Manager will be responsible for helping to oversee the success of week-long day camp programs for children with disabilities and/or special needs in its pilot year. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for overseeing check-in, engaging with campers and program activities, and managing documents including sensitive and confidential information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure the health and safety of all participants in the program.

· Address all needs of participants throughout the day.

· Plan weekly and daily activities.

· Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment at all times and locations.

· Communicate with all staff and campers to ensure success for all participants.

· Cleaning and organizing supplies and products necessary for a successful day.

· Create and implement activities when a participant is not engaging with the whole group.

· Lead games, activities, and crafts in accordance with program design documentation.

· Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor to meet program needs.

GENERAL INFORMATION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Must be able to effectively and collaboratively manage a team of care-providing staff.

· Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

· Position continually requires demonstrated patience.

· Must be comfortable with assisting individuals. Work requires continual attention to detail in caring for individual participants.

· Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the program.

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

· Must be 18 years of age or older.

· Must exhibit competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.

· CPR/First-Aid Certification.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

· One year of management experience.

· Experience working with populations with disabilities and/or special needs.

· Experience leading summer camp programming and activities or similar.

· Coursework or training in group dynamics and group management.

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Monday – Friday
