Heritage NW Consulting is Hiring a Behavioral Support Specialist II Near Vancouver, WA

Position Description:

Behavioral Support Specialists (BSS II) facilitate and support the clients in the community to ensure the sustainability of the ageing and disabled population. Their primary role is to assess, analyze, and develop behavior intervention plans to promote positive behavior and improve the overall quality of life for their clients by providing direct individual counseling and case management. Heritage NW Consulting provides services in the Clark and Cowlitz County geographical area.

Duties:

Assessment and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify and analyze behavioral challenges and their underlying causes.

Behavior Intervention Planning:

  • Develop individualized behavior intervention plans based on assessment findings and in consultation with the client, their family, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify target behaviors and set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.
  • Design strategies and interventions to modify or replace problem behaviors with functional alternative behaviors.

Implementation and Monitoring:

  • Implement behavior intervention plans, including teaching and reinforcing alternative behaviors, utilizing positive reinforcement.
  • Train and support caregivers, teachers, and other professionals in implementing behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions through ongoing data collection and analysis.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the behavior intervention plan based on progress or changing needs.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, therapists, teachers, and parents, to ensure consistent implementation of behavior support strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders to provide feedback, recommendations, and progress updates.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including behavior assessments, intervention plans, progress notes, and reports.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing assessment findings, intervention strategies, progress, and recommendations.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality regarding client information.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in behavior analysis.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities, such as attending workshops, conferences, and training programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's in Social Work/Counseling or related field
  • SharePoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to work with a diverse clientele.
  • Handle Pressure
  • Think objectively.
  • Be confident.
  • Skilled in organization, planning, reporting
  • Be Persistent and Proactive
  • Skilled in de-escalation
  • Have exceptional listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build client relationships.
  • Able to create and maintain boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold current license in social work or counseling in the state of Washington

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
