HOPE Learning Academy Co-Op is Hiring a Mentor Near Denver, CO

Mentor

Summary of Job Duties:

A Mentor works with the support and direction of the Learning Site Director and HOPE staff. The
Mentor plays a key role in facilitating a positive, productive educational experience and learning environment for HOPE students. The Mentor provides and implements daily lessons and classroom activities, including critical thinking. Mentors support student success with offline curriculum by collaborating with the online teacher and Site Coordinator. The Mentor is responsible for furthering student progress and collaborating with the HOPE staff regularly. Accountable to implement and communicate all academic instruction to all HOPE communities.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Academics:

Student Achievement

  • Monitors student progress and performance daily
  • Communicates daily with students regarding progress and performance
  • Collaborates and communicates regularly with the HOPE staff and Learning Site Director regarding student performance
  • Actively maintains positive learning environment for students in the classroom
  • Provides daily direct instruction that motivates and engages students through creative instructional methods
  • Maintains a high level of academic integrity for students
  • Collaborates with the HOPE staff in developing and implementing personalized learning plans

Behavior Management

  • Disciplines in accordance with HOPE policy
  • Communicates with parents, HOPE staff, and Learning Site Director/Manager regarding student behavior
  • Documents accurate and ongoing records of student behavior
  • Reports behavior concerns to the Learning Site Director/Manager and appropriate HOPE staff
  • Implements positive behavior management techniques with consistency
  • Prevents behavior issues through effective classroom managements skills

Curriculum

  • Develops a high level of competency and knowledge in the HOPE curriculum
  • Facilitates online and offline instruction
  • Creates and/or implements offline work in collaboration with the HOPE staff
  • Grades offline assignments (essays, constructed responses, projects, etc.) according to standards and expectations of HOPE
  • Implements and collaborates the learning target lesson plans and critical thinking
  • Maintains accurate offline records for students grades

Assessment

  • Uses assessment and data dashboard results to make instructional decisions in collaboration with the HOPE staff
  • Actively proctors assessments as directed
  • Adjusts regular schedule to allow for testing to be completed with the guidance of the director and HOPE staff
  • Collaborates with HOPE staff to motivate students to perform at a high level on all assessments

Operations:

  • Completes and submits HOPE paperwork in a timely manner
  • Checks e-mail and other communications on a daily basis
  • Monitors student progress and log-on times
  • Maintains open communication with the HOPE staff
  • Is present at the Learning Site on a daily basis

General

  • Records accurate attendance at Learning Site on daily basis
  • Communicates and meets with parents to discuss student progress
  • Maintains a learning environment that is clean, safe, and engaging
  • Maintains professional and appropriate educational appearance
  • Maintains a positive and collaborative relationship with families, Learning Site staff, HOPE staff
  • Demonstrates a consistent, positive attitude and high expectations
  • Attends and participates in all HOPE training sessions and other administrative meetings as required that support all academic and operations

Experience/Education:

Required

  • Associates degree or higher OR High school diploma/GED and at least 2 years study (48 credit hours) at an accredited institute of higher education OR high school diploma/GED and passing score on the Para WorkKeys exams

Desired

  • At least one year experience working at a school or with youth/children
  • At least one year experience working with students from diverse backgrounds

Teaching certificate

  • At least 3 years’ experience working at a school and at least 3 years working with at-risk youth

Locations Needed:

Pueblo, Denver, Greeley, Grand Junction

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26,000.00 - $32,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
