Harris Health Center, a 31 bed skilled nursing facility is hiring for the position of

Food Service Director

Summary of Work:
Manages the food service program according to the policies and procedures of the facility and federal/state requirements. Provides leadership, support and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. Maintains records and logs as required.

Qualifications:

  • Specialized training in food service management and nutrition
  • Successful completion and a certification of completion of a DOH approved Food Sanitation and Safety course
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a long term care setting preferred
  • Proof of immunizations required by the RI Department of Health
  • BCI from RI Attorney General's Office
  • Able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language proficiently

Job Duties:

  • Assures menus, recipes and menu systems are followed to prepare meals and snacks, in accordance to prescribed resident diets and that meals and snacks are served timely.
  • Performs food preparation, cooking and cleaning as necessary
  • Monitor the quality of food and adherence to resident diets
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality and/or service
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner
  • Monitor budgets
  • Keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Participate in all aspects of food service operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and budgeting to optimize resources and control costs
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team
  • Schedule staff hours and assign duties
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate food service activities and meet organizational goals
  • Perform other duties as required
