Registered Environmental Health Specialist/ Specialist In-Training
The Hocking County Health Department seeks a full-time Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or Environmental Health Specialist In-Training (REHSIT) to work as a generalist in the Environmental Health Division. Under general supervision, the sanitarian will promote public health by conducting inspections and preparing reports that document compliance with state and local regulatory codes. They will also provide consultation and education to the public, investigate potential environmental issues, and collect samples for analyses.
Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
Currently registered as a REHS or REHSIT in Ohio or possess a B.S. or B.A. from an accredited university with 45 quarter hours or 30 semester hours in the sciences.
Have a current and valid Ohio driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Be able to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing.
Possess basic computer skills and be able to work independently.
Be willing to work outside and be able to lift 50 lbs.
Pass a B.C.I. background check and drug screening.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
REHSIT starting pay is commensurate with experience at least $20.00/ hour.
