Title: Technical Write
FTE Status: Full Time – 40 hours
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, hourly
Reports To: Operations Manager
Primary Purpose of Position:
Compose clear and coherent technical information, write detailed work instruction documents for operators, develop deep understanding of ICE’s products, processes and machines
Essential Functions:
1. Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues and working with managers to discuss technical problems.
2. Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly. Best process may be combination of video and written instructions.
3. Prepares graphics, illustrations and/ or video content to elaborate on or complement technical writing.
4. Meets with subject matter experts to ensure that specialized topics are appropriately addressed and discussed.
5. Works with operations manager and supervisors to ensure that the finished documentation meets effective training requirements.
6. Revises, edits, or updates instructions, technical information as necessary and maintains effective revision control.
7. Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines.
8. Researches and builds knowledge about processes or concepts to be documented.
9. Specializes in technical writing for the manufacturing industry.

Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Information Technology or related field Experience with Electronic Work Instruction (EWI) software
Reporting:
Direct report to Operations Manager
Works directly with other employees in a team environment
Works with engineering, management and production crew for problem solving and production improvements
Working Conditions:
This position includes the ability to perform those activities to complete the essential functions of the job, either with or without reasonable accommodation. The position includes continuous and/or frequent talking, repetitive motions of hand/wrists, hearing and handling. Mental activities performed by the employee in this position include decision making, interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, teamwork, creativity, customer service, mentoring, use of discretion, presentations/teaching, problem analysis, negotiation, and the ability to perform math and to read, write, speak and understand English. Physical activities may include standing, walking, stooping, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, bending, crawling, reaching, grasping, fingering, repetitive motions of hands and wrists, sitting, hearing and lifting/pushing/pulling or carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily indoors in an office environment, lab or manufacturing facility.
