The seal products manufacture is seeking to fill the position- CNC Lathe and Mill Machinist in Houston, TX.

Title: CNC Lathe & Mill Machinist

Work Location: Houston, TX 77086

Work Hours: @21:00- 6:00 (2nd NIGHT shift)

Report To: Production Manager

Hourly Salary: $19.00

Start; 8/13/2024-

Status: Temp to a Direct Hire (about 3 months for a temp employee)

Introduction: We are currently seeking a CNC lathe and mill machinist to join our team at our newly constructed production facility in Northwest Houston. Under general supervision, the CNC lathe and mill machinist performs essential duties to ensure that products are machined to specifications detailed in engineered blueprints and in accordance with company policies and procedures. The CNC lathe and mill machinist is responsible for setting-up and operating stations with up to three CNC lathe and mill machines.

Responsibilities:

The CNC Lathe and Mill Machinist reads and interprets engineered blueprints and drawings, selects and conduct setups, creates programs, performs program edits, and machines parts with tight specifications and tolerances of /-.001”.

1. Determines set-up requirements, sets-up machines, programs machines, and operates DMG Mori Seiki lathes with live tooling for the fabrication of fluorocarbon resin parts that conform to the high quality machine standards required by the company.

2. Reads and interprets safety rules/policies, engineered blueprints, procedure manuals, and operating instructions.

3. Selects, aligns, and secures machining fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.

4. Adheres to all company mandated safety procedures/guidelines at all times. Safety is one of our core values which requires you to wear safety protection such as safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, safety shoes with metatarsal protection, and company uniform.

5. Maintains a safe and clean working environment. The shop is kept very organized and clean at all times due to the nature of the products we manufacture.

Inspects parts produced to determine dimensions and tolerance requirements of finished work pieces.

1. Responsible for quality of all parts produced.

2. Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts machine controls as required.

3. Utilizes common measuring tools: micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc. to perform QC on in-process and/or finished parts in accordance with company policies and procedures.

4. Completes documentation generated and required for production in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Assumes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management as required and willing/able to cross-train in multiple departments as needed.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess strong decision making and interpersonal skills and a “can-do” attitude with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency to meet and exceed our customer’s needs and requirements.

Experience:

1. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience (or a combination of experience and training) interpreting engineered blueprints, creating/editing programs, calculating speeds/feeds, cutting and relieving multiple styles of threads, and machining ring grooves.

2. Knowledge of ISO 9001 specifications and requirements.

3. Experience with DMG Mori Seiki Lathes with live tooling and DMG ERGOline operation panels.

4. Experience with Fanuc controls.

5. Experience with Mazak machines and Mazatrol operation panel.

6. Experience with creating and modifying G & M code and experience working from engineered blueprints, sketches, and process control documents.

7. Experience setting-up and operating CNC mills and lathes desired.

8. Experience working from engineered blueprints, sketches, and process control documents.

9. Experience machining plastics of various compositions (PTFE, PFA, etc.) desired; will consider experience machining various types of alloys and exotic metals as a substitute.

10. Experience machining threading applications required (NPT, straight, tapered, etc.).

11. Experience running stations with multiple machines in a fast pace work environment required.

12. Previous experience with and proper knowledge of the use and calibration of inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, height gages, etc.).

Education:

- Must have completed and achieved a high school diploma or higher.
