 Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently IFS employs about 100 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. IFS is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location IFS ships products throughout the continental USA, Canada, Mexico, and worldwide. IFS works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Manufacturing Engineer is a crucial role that bridges the gap between design and production. You'll be responsible for optimizing and standardizing processes to ensure efficient production while solving production-specific challenges. The Production Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in shaping the future of IFS processes by contributing daily to operations overall effectiveness. You’ll take on large and complex projects, some of which have a clean sheet design.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Provide technical expertise for day-to-day operations, identify and resolve root causes of production issues, and assist with equipment and process development initiatives.

· Leverage engineering knowledge to support daily operations and continuous process improvement initiatives.

· Collaborate with operations personnel to continuously identify and implement process improvements through data analysis, quality enhancement, and streamlined production.

· Work hand in hand with Project Engineers to ensure projects are efficiently being completed in the shop.

· Partner in the design and development of equipment and processes that align with customer needs.

· Will be relied on to program multiple CNC machines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Construction Management) -or- relevant experience (e.g. 3-5 years supporting production processes in a manufacturing environment).

· Software Proficiency:

o Strong proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).

o Ability to learn and be proficient in CNC Programming.

o Prior use and understanding of CAD (2D & 3D) and modeling software.

o Knowledge of ERP/MRP functionality and production implementation.

· Technical Skills:

o Knowledge of CNC machines and manufacturing processes.

o Solid understanding of geometrical and trigonometric principles.

o Knowledge of steel suppliers and their standard and specialty products.

o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (blueprints).

o Technical writing – work instructions, SOP’s, Briefs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks:

· Essential: Regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
