Job Title: Outside Sales
Department: Sales
Reports To: VP of Sales
Location: On the road
Job Summary:
The Sales/Account Manager is responsible for promoting and selling food products to customers and clients. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with existing customers, as well as identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the food industry. The Sales/Account Manager will work closely with the sales team and may collaborate with other departments such as buyers and production manager to achieve sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Engagement:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and clients.
- Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Understand customer needs and preferences to recommend suitable food products.
2. Sales Target Achievement:
- Meet or exceed sales targets and quotas set by the company.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in the food industry.
- Create and execute sales strategies to maximize revenue.
3. Product Knowledge:
- Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, including features, benefits, and pricing.
- Educate customers on the various food products and their uses.
- Provide information and support to customers during the decision-making process.
4. Market Research:
- Research and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
- Use market insights to identify potential areas for growth and improvement.
5. Order Processing and Documentation:
- Prepare and process customer orders accurately.
- Maintain records of sales transactions, customer interactions, and order history.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed promptly.
- Ensure all accounts receivable are up to date.
6. Collaboration:
- Work closely with the sales team to coordinate efforts and share market insights.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as buyer and production manager, to improve product offerings and sales strategies.
7. Reporting:
- Provide regular sales reports and updates to the Sales Manager or Sales Director.
- Prepare forecasts and sales projections as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Knowledge of food products and industry trends.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in using sales and CRM software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if applicable).
Physical Requirements:
- May require lifting and carrying of product samples and sales materials.
- Ability to travel to customer locations or attend industry events as necessary.
