Nassau County Board of County Commissioners is Hiring a DOCUMENT SCANNER Near Nassau, FL

DescriptionPerforms high volume production scanning of various documents, including wide-format building plans utilizing specialized scanning equipment. Performs related work as required. Reports to assigned supervisor.
Examples of Duties
  • Receives pre-processed files, evaluates transmittal documents relative to actual batch content, creates job control sheets, scans original documents and assures all aspects of electronic document input and control.
  • Maintains established quality control standards and levels of production.
  • Evaluates electronic documents, eliminates and reproduces unacceptable documents.
  • Performs a variety of routine clerical duties as required, which may include but is not limited to copying and filing documents, retrieving files, entering computer data, requesting supplies, assembling/collating materials, etc.
  • Operates a variety of equipment, which may include a computer, fax machine, standard and wide-format scanners, copier, telephone, calculator, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, subordinates, co-workers, County personnel, Government agencies, vendors, customers and the general public.
  • Backs-up other positions on an as needed basis to answer phone calls, direct walk-in customers etc.
  • Attends and remains at work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absenteeism and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to higher management with respect to vacation time and leave requests.
  • Performs other duties as required and other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Typical QualificationsRequires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years of clerical/secretarial skills or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Production document scanning and control experience is preferred. May require a valid State driver’s license.

  • Ability to quickly learn a new web-based electronic document creation and management technology.
  • Has excellent quality assurance, organizational, computer and clerical skills.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to perform required mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to type accurately at a rate sufficient for the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of office equipment as necessary in the performance of daily activities.
  • Ability to use a computer for word and data processing.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret various materials pertaining to the responsibilities of the job.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Ability to use independent judgment in performing routine tasks.
  • Ability to use independent judgment in performing routine and non-routine tasks.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily assignments and work activities.
  • Ability to offer assistance to co-workers and employees of other departments as necessary.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
  • Knowledge on how to perform duties in a courteous manner and with the utmost integrity in the best interest of the public.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions as required.
  • Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.
