Evening Manager for Ronald McDonald House in Jackson, Mississippi, is the person who at the end of a long day provides comfort, compassion and care for families who must be away from home when their children are receiving specialized medical treatment in Jackson area hospitals. This person maintains the operation of the House from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Evening Manager also may cover other periods of time when available and mutually agreeable between Evening Manager and House Manager and/or Executive Director. Evening Manager is flexible in all aspects of daily living, realizing that managing the House requires working in a community atmosphere. 

Responsibilities

Over-see meal program. Establish relationships with community groups, corporations, individuals and restaurants to provide meals for families. Maintain the meal calendar, contact list, and alert families to meal expectations. Write thank you notes to supporters of the meal program.

Maintain cleanliness of facility at night (primarily kitchens.)

Check-in families. Orient new and repeat families on the rules and policies of the House -- enforcing these rules and policies on a daily basis.

Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise volunteers and volunteer activities during the evening to ensure a pleasing atmosphere for families. 

Answer office phone.

Check-out families. Follow check-out cleaning procedures and receive RMH property (keys, linens, or other property loaned.) 

Maintain safe environment for the families. Provide coverage of the premises and assistance during assigned/designated work hours. Follow lock-up procedures and emergency procedures.

Assist other staff members with coordination of special activities and events at night – which could include serving as staff contact for group tours at night.

Maintain the stocking and inventory of Coca-Cola vending machine. Oversee the collection of money from the vending machine.

Qualifications

Ability to climb stairs.

Ability to kneel to floor level or possess alternative skill in order to clean a bathtub/shower.

Possess strength and/or skill to move 24-pack soft-drink case(s) to storage and/or vending machine.

Have transportation in order to pick-up an established, donated meal for Ronald McDonald House each Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
