SCPL is Hiring a Technology Services Manager Near Georgetown, KY

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Technology Services Manager manages the library’s digital services and maintains its integrated library system (ILS) and all other technology at the library.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the functionality of the library’s website and facilitates hosting and server management.
  • Works with the library’s managed service provider (MSP) to maintain the library’s computer equipment (hardware and software), its networks, and operating system.
  • Serves as a liaison with various technology and security contractors.
  • Manage, supervise, train, and evaluate Technology Services staff members.
  • Manages the annual technology budget.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Services Manager for E-Rate applications and accounts.
  • Provides technology assistance to patrons and library staff.
  • Assists in writing specifications and bids for future technologies, such as networking, wiring, new equipment, and software.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and manages the surplus of those items.
  • Coordinates acquisition, access, and renewal of resources in electronic formats.
  • Assists and trains other library personnel on electronic technologies, policies, procedures, and concepts.
  • Participates in strategic planning for technology and updates the technology plan annually.
  • Conduct Technology staff meetings and attend and participate in Leadership Team meetings.
  • Works all public service desks as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with all managers and administrators to assure quality library service to patrons.
  • Generate, compile, and analyze a variety of monthly and annual statistical reports; report statistics as instructed.
  • Perform basic notaries after training and certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Expected Hours of Work

Employee must work 37.5 hours a week to maintain full time status. On-site attendance and some evenings and weekends are required.

Schedule is a 3-week rotation, hours this position will work are listed below. These hours are non-negotiable.

Sunday 10:45a-7:15p

Monday 8:30a-5:00p

Wednesday 11:45p-8:15p

Thursday 11:45p-8:15p

Friday 8:30a-5:00p

Week 2:

Monday 8:30a-5:00p

Tuesday 8:30a-5:00p

Required Education and Experience

  • Ability to obtain a paraprofessional certification from KDLA
  • Three (3) or more years of professional and supervisory experience in a business or library setting.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or other technology-related fields.
  • Microsoft and CompTIA Certifications
  • Library experience

Physical Demands

  • Moving 50-100 lbs. carts and handling moderately heavy boxes of books when the occasion requires.
  • Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, type, pick, pinch, hear, and perform repetitive motions when the occasion requires.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Movement through facility locations and assisting patrons.
  • Ability to handle books, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to reach above the head and below the knee to retrieve shelved items.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to identify materials on shelving up to 90” and to read primarily typed or printed text in a variety of type sizes.
