Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered nurse, responsible for providing support to nursing staff and assisting in the delivery of patient care following departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Position Duties

a) Assists with patient transportation to and from the operating room

b) Helps to deliver used instruments and trays to SPB after each case for sterile processing

c) Cleans operating rooms in between cases effectively by helping with trash removal, damp dusting, mopping floor, set up of new anesthesia circuits, changing bed linens, and obtaining any new equipment necessary for next case

d) Maintains adequate level of supplies in the operating rooms and anesthesia carts

e) Prepares the operating rooms in the morning by damp dusting horizontal surfaces and high touch areas, connects anesthesia gas lines, assists nursing staff with setting up necessary equipment and positioning devices

f) Re-stocks linen, ensures adequate amount of blankets are in warmer

g) Monitors daily OR room temps and eye wash station and ensures daily logs are completed

h) Empty and replaces sharps containers as necessary in the OR and PACU

i) Replaces supplies such as, hand sanitizers, paper towels, soaps, hair covers, and shoe covers at entrances to OR and at each scrub sink bay.

j) Replenish O2 tanks and any other medical gas tanks as needed on anesthesia carts and in PACU

k) Ensures the splint cart is adequately stocked and communicates need for additional splint material to materials manager

l) Assists the materials manager with unloading of deliveries

m) Maintains an organized supply room

n) Transports specimens to laboratory if necessary

o) Closes up OR at end of day and assists with cleaning, returning all equipment back to the designated area, docks Neptune’s, disconnects gas lines, removes linen and trash bags to proper receptacles and ensures room is properly stocked and ready for next day

p) Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Clinical Director.

Education and Experience

a) High school diploma or equivalent.

b) BLS/CPR certification

c) Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication.

Lifting Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs., includes repetitive motions (e.g., bending, stooping, twisting, walking, standing, reaching overhead, pushing or pulling). Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail in the midst of other activity.

Able to maintain composed in stressful situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
