About the Role

Manage and supervise all lab techs and testing in QA. Conduct pre shift meeting with QA and production. Organizes and oversees the quality of products made by the production team. Maintain and organize the retain area/program. Dispose of any product after required retain dates. Log all info and label crates. Order and maintain all inventory and supplies for the lab. Check hold inventory 3 times per week in refrigerator and ambient storage. Keep hold log updated in the system. Provide end of day email to management. Oversee glass and brittle program. Walk the plant 1 time per quarter annotate any plastic and glass.

Be able to perform the work of lab techs outlined below:

Calibrate machines in the lab at the start of each shift and enter info into the system (ph. meter, Titrator). Communicate with previous shift to review any quality issues. Perform QC checks in the filler/production room. Check metal detector 1 time per hour with probe. Stand at the line for 10 to 15 min. per hour to inspect the date and item number. Pull 8 packets per hour to weigh, measure dimensions, temperature, and enter info into a tablet. Place packets in bags for retain. Perform seal test in flex pack every hour. Check final pallet labels. Place an empty crate on the finished pallet and hand count packets from full crate. Perform tests in the lab (ph., moisture, brix, Bostwick, titration). Perform QA on sanitation. Swab equipment for testing. Hold any pallets with non-conforming product. Wrap with red wrap and create hold tags. Monitor for correct PPE and cleanliness. Perform walkthrough up to 3 times per shift.

Key responsibilities include:

· Collaboration and Guidance: Work closely with Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments to address Food Safety and Quality issues.

· Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise, coach, and mentor QA Technicians, providing ongoing performance feedback.

· Quality Oversight: Organize and oversee the quality of products produced by the production team, ensuring all QA tests are timely and accurate.

· Deviation Management: Handle deviations from food safety and quality programs and promptly communicate with the QA Supervisor/Manager as needed.

· Quarantine and Rework: Place products on quarantine when necessary and lead hold and rework activities during the shift, maintaining and updating the hold log.

· Post-Sanitation Inspections: Lead QA inspections of equipment post-sanitation and ensure successful production start-ups and changeovers by communicating with leads and Supervisors.

· Housekeeping and Compliance: Ensure good housekeeping, PPE, and GMP rules are followed by staff.

· Training and Mentoring: Assist in training Quality Technicians, ensuring they perform effectively in their Quality and Food Safety tasks.

· Continuous Quality Checks: Regularly check product quality against specifications.

· Policy Adherence: Follow all Safety, Allergen Controls, Food Safety & Sanitation, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.

Qualifications

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a clinical/manufacturing within the food industry.

· BS Degree in a Food Science related field, or 3 years equivalent experience.

· Quality Assurance experience required.

· Excellent communication skills-written, verbal and interpersonal

· Flexibility to work in AM and PM shift and sometimes weekends and overtime

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; able to learn new programs

· Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Food Labeling (FDA and USDA).

· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with 80% percent of the time being in a production or laboratory setting.

· Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, wipe, reach, bend and safely lift to 35 lbs.

· High School diploma or equivalent required.

· Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) preferred.

Days of work: Sat-Wed 8:00pm-4:30am (3rd Shift)

Rate of Pay: $23.00
