Job Description:

The Installation Crew Chief plays a crucial role in the success of Gary Musick Productions' projects. Serving as the primary point of contact between the company, the venue, the client, and the producer, the Crew Chief ensures smooth and efficient installations and load-out plans. With a focus on professionalism and client satisfaction, the Crew Chief represents Gary Musick Productions and maintains a calm and composed demeanor in all interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve primarily in Scenic Operations, reporting to the Operations Manager.

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager during periods when not assigned to show load-in/out.

  • Report to the Producer of the assigned show and the Operations Manager for timelines and schedules.

  • Coordinate with Warehouse Manager for tasks and assignments.

  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager on weekly schedules, considering work hours and show call-times.

  • Prepare items for upcoming shows, load/unload trucks, restock inventory, and perform warehouse maintenance tasks.

  • Travel to both out-of-town and in-town locations for various corporate shows, activations, theatrical installs, and permanent installations.

  • Provide support to other crew chiefs during periods of multiple shows and events.

  • Attend scenic meetings with producers, project managers, operations director, and warehouse manager as required.

  • Coordinate pull/prep/load efforts with the Warehouse Manager to ensure readiness before truck load date.

  • Fill out job reports/incident reports on-site and report any issues to the Producer in real-time.

  • Coordinate with Logistics Manager regarding local labor and equipment requirements.

  • Ensure safe use and return of all equipment, including cross-rented equipment.

  • Maintain safety standards during truck loading, load-in/load-out, and return processes.

  • Build final show reports after each event in collaboration with Warehouse Manager and Producers.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of dock and warehouse operations areas.

  • Adhere to all company safety guidelines and state/federal safety standards.

  • Travel to out-of-state shows and events; travel expenses covered by the company.

  • Attend site visits to gather technical information and measurements.

  • Maintain forklift certification and operate lifts and booms on-site as needed.

  • Maintain a valid and clean driving record and license.

  • Adhere to the company dress code and appearance standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications preferred.

  • Previous experience in event production, scenic operations, or related field preferred.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Valid forklift certification and clean driving record required.

  • Ability to pass random drug testing.

  • Must adhere to company dress code and appearance standards.

  • Must comply with a full background check. 

  • Steel-toe sneakers required (assistance provided by the company).

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate varying show call-times and travel requirements.
