JOB TITLE: Lending Operations Specialist / Team Lead

REPORTS TO: VP Credit Officer

SUMMARY:

You own it, are accountable and likely are a top performing employee, or team lead in loan operations and servicing at a financial institution. You value and prefer a collaborative onsite work culture rather than working remote and the fact that we received off the chart high marks in employee surveys of engagement, satisfaction and culture is of high interest. You either are leading a small team or are experienced in loan operations and ready to move up to a supervisor or team-lead role. You like the idea of building and growing a new department, may not be happy with your employer’s culture, perhaps under-utilized or interested in exploring a change. Accuracy, getting results and helping to get loans closed, boarded and serviced on time is important to you. Ethics, integrity, building trust, delivering on your promises, collaborating with a highly engaged lending team, and delivering results for your internal and external clients is of paramount importance to you.

You either live in the Phoenix Arizona metro area or willing to immediately relocate and be based here so you can interact in person rather than working remote with the team. You either now or in the past have been accountable for business and commercial loan document preparation, loan closing, funding, boarding, call-backs and servicing. You likely have experience processing, documenting and closing a wide range of business loans including: C&I, SBA, CRE and others. You have likely used LaserPro, are experienced using a loan processing system (ideally Abrigo) and a bank core system (ideally FIS Horizon). You likely have experience that includes at least one smaller sized organization. If this sounds like you, please keep reading and we encourage you to apply.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Great opportunity to further expand your supervisor experience or move up to a leadership/supervisory role. Leverage your prior FIS core banking system and Abrigo loan system experience to lead, inspire, build, recruit, train and supervise the loan administration team to drive operational excellence and efficiency to ensure the department meets service level and organizational goals while meeting compliance and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the production of monthly and/or quarterly loan related metrics reports. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the consistent delivery of outstanding service in line with client, internal and strategic partner expectations.

  • Maintain and demonstrate advanced experience, discretion and judgement with FIS core banking system and proficiency with loan closing, boarding, and loan servicing. Must work independently, exercise sound judgement and make rapid judgements in boarding new loans in a manner that complies with bank policy, federal/state regulations and within accounting standards.
  • Roll up your sleeves and personally process loan closings and boardings. Over time as the Bank grows, hire, coach, build and lead the Loan Operations, Administration and Loan Servicing team to ensure successful delivery of all operational processes and remain in compliance.
  • Exercise judgment and discretion in directing loan account input (system boarding) and verification procedures for all loan and related services including: SBA, Business, consumer, Commercial and Industrial (C&I), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), line of credit, construction loans and credit cards. As the bank grows, supervises others performing these functions.
  • SBA, C&I, Business, Commercial, Consumer and Mortgage loan boarding, closing and/or servicing experience is ideal.
  • Exercise discretion and judgement in supervising all aspects of the loan administration, loan boarding, loan closing and loan servicing.
  • Ensure lending staff is provided with updates and procedural changes.
  • Adheres to all State and Federal Banking Regulations.
  • Responsible for timely preparation of various reports.
  • Interviewing, hiring, coaching and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; employee performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
  • Perform other related work and duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong skills and prior experience in the FIS core banking system, and loan operations including: Loan closing, boarding and servicing and knowledge of BSA and AML.

  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong knowledge of PC skills including Microsoft products.
  • Follows policies and procedures, completes administrative tasks correctly and on time, supports organization’s goals and values.

Education & Experience:

  • 3 years Advanced hands-on experience personally working with FIS core banking system required.
  • 2 years of supervisory and leadership experience at a financial institution preferred but not required. Great opportunity for an FIS core banking expert to move up to a management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree, business or related degree is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in solving practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Experience in developing, training, leading, inspiring and motivating teams.
