Job Title: General Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: Owner

SUMMARY

The General Manager will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for an assigned hotel, and will manage its employees. The General Manager will provide leadership within the strategic planning process and will implement new initiatives to assist in increasing guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Financial Management and Oversight:

  • Oversee business policies and accounting practices
  • Review and analyze monthly financial reports and develop monthly action plans
  • Oversee reporting and monitoring of performance metrics
  • Guest Satisfaction Scores
  • QAE Scores
  • Ensure that relevant data is presented to the owner

Human Resources Management:

  • Assist in the standardizing of all handbooks, recruiting, hiring, and compensation policies and procedures.
  • Source, interview, hire and train all levels of employees
  • Develop company culture; inspiring commitment; encouraging mutual support; enabling development opportunities
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent
  • Develop performance management processes and ensure processes are used effectively to improve team member performance.
  • Mentors, guides, and sponsors the development of key talent for company growth
  • Maintains accountability with staff
  • Complete Quarterly and Annual employee performance evaluations
  • Develop Action Plans for improvement

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent required; 4-year college degree preferred
  • At least 5 years experience within the hotel industry in Hotel Management

Professional skills:

  • Excellent written English and copy-writing skill
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with several hotel operation systems (such as Opera, SynXis, OnQ.)
  • Skillful in finance, project planning/ tasks and able to prioritize projects/tasks
