R3035 Raven Power Group LLC is Hiring a Remote Plant Technician-Operations (Experienced or Entry Level)

Talen Energy is looking for candidates to fill openings for Plant Technician-Operations. This position would be located at the Talen Energy Brandon Shores facility in Baltimore, MD (Pasadena area). We are looking for qualified candidates with a minimum of having vocational training and/or mechanical experience and prefer candidates with five (5) years’ power plant experience. The Brandon Shores Plant is a fully scrubbed coal-fired generating station. The position reports to the Shift Supervisor. Primary Purpose & Summary: Provides safety and environmental stewardship. Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings on all power plant equipment and systems. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. Requires the use of computerized application programs (such as timekeeping software, Operations Logbook, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Safety Training, Email, etc.). Work requires 12 hour rotating shift work schedule, including holidays, weekends in addition to overtime and possible call-ins. This is a multi-skilled position requiring the development of knowledge and skills in the Plant Operator Qualifications Training Program, as well as development of basic knowledge of plant maintenance (mechanical, electrical, and instrument & controls). Responsibilities: 1. Ensures that appropriate safety procedures are followed. 2. Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings as required to maximize asset value. 3. Performs preventive maintenance tasks and records preventive maintenance activities. 4. Assists in training and development of other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, safety, and environmental stewardship. 5. Assists with equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions. 6. Assists with developing/modifying operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. 7. Assists in requisitioning parts and supplies. 8. Performs other duties as required. Skills/Competencies: 1. Performs job duties safely and adheres to all safety, environmental, and NERC compliance requirements. 2. Maintains qualifications as an Emergency Response Team Member and completes all required Safety Annual Requalification Training. 3. Demonstrated ability to complete job assignments in a setting that requires teamwork, as well as independent decision making (independently perform Watch Station Rounds). 4. Solid communication skills, both verbal and written (clear communications using a walkie-talkie). 5. Ability to understand and utilize technical procedures and to apply critical thinking to solve technical problems. 6. Ability to think clearly and perform duties during emergency or high-stress situations. 7. Completes Plant Operator Qualifications Training Program. 8. Has aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability, and production control. 9. Ability to work rotating 12 hour shifts and overtime with minimum supervision. Education & Experience Required: 1. Minimum of vocational training/mechanical experience. Preferred (5) years’ experience in a power plant, 2. Hands-on experience with all aspects of power plant operations and maintenance including mechanical maintenance, instrument and electrical systems, and a working knowledge of power cycles is a plus. 3. High School graduate/Vocational training and/or some experience in industrial Operations, Mechanical, or Electrical, including pumps, valves, motors, machinery mechanics and electrical and control theory. Licenses/Certifications Required: 1. Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Company driving standards. 2. Stationary Engineers License is preferred for experienced candidates. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in an environment that requires the ability and willingness to walk, climb, and lift, and work outside in severe weather conditions. Ability to work frequent overtime and/or weekends on short notice. This position requires working a rotating shift schedule, which routinely involves weekend and overnight duty.
