Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The primary purpose of the sanitation superintendent is to achieve total plant cleanliness in all production areas. Secondary responsibilities include directing and developing the night sanitation team, while identifying potential backups and preparing them for advancement.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure all departmental associates are compliant with EH&S policies and procedures to ensure the protection of employees and other individuals while minimizing the organizations exposure to loss and liability.
· Develop, implement and evaluate annual budget for the Sanitation department.
· Accountable for ensuring all equipment is sanitary and assembled correctly, prior to start up each morning.
· Actively involved with front line supervisors to ensure that processes are in place to achieve departmental goals (swab failure rate, USDA NR’s, Master Sanitation, etc.).
· Work in conjunction with Operations Manager to develop training plans that support the organizational goals and objectives of the company. May participate in ideation, concept development, management of, or direct supervision of product development or process improvement initiatives.
· Actively support all employee and labor relations activities to increase employee engagement.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Meat Science or Business preferred with a minimum of three years related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Will require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to clean/inspect equipment or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 60 pounds for finished cases, hoses, and chemical jugs on occasion.
The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: refrigerated room temperatures, lighting and traditional processing equipment as found in a typical production environment.
