As the Preschool Dance Lead Teacher at P2L Playhouse, you'll lead the way in crafting dynamic and age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with our innovative play-based performing arts curriculum. Your vital role extends beyond the classroom, fostering creativity, instilling confidence, and nurturing a genuine passion for the performing arts in our young learners.
Duties
Lesson Plan Development:​​​​
  • Create lesson plans that incorporate storytelling, dramatic play, movement, and music to enhance the learning experience.
  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime.
Classroom Management:
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
  • Manage and organize the classroom space, props, and materials related to theater activities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and create a well-structured learning environment.
Instruction and Performance:
  • Instruct preschool children ages 2-5 in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth.
  • Conduct engaging and interactive theater lessons, ensuring that activities are tailored to the developmental levels of preschoolers.
  • Organize and coordinate periodic performances or presentations involving students to showcase their creative talents.
Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to integrate dance activities into the overall curriculum.
  • Support other staff members to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, recognizing that a cohesive team is essential for maintaining a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents to provide updates on their child's progress and involvement in dance and movement activities.
Professional Development:
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education and dance for young children.
  • Participate in compulsory professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Experience:
  • Proven experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or dance setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing creative and engaging lesson plans.
  • Passionate about working with children.
  • Ability to build rapport with children.
  • Positive and patient demeanor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and the ability to apply them in a dance education context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with both children and parents.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for introducing young children to the world of dance.
Requirements
  • Previous teaching experience in a licensed childcare center preferred.
  • Experience teaching in one or more related fields (Musical Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, S.T.E.A.M.)
  • Ability to possess a Fingerprint Clearance Card or have the ability to obtain it.
  • Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • First Aid CPR Certifications (within 30 days of hire)
Certifications:
  • Teaching certification or relevant credentials in early childhood education.
  • Any additional certifications in dance or choreography would be a plus.
  • First Aid and CPR
  • CDA a plus
  • Ability to complete Nevada State ECE Training within 90 days.
