Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan is Hiring an Education Coordinator Near Norton, MI

Title: Education Coordinator

Hours: Part-time, 15-25 hours per week

Wage: $19 - $24 per hour, commensurate with experience

Reports to: Associate Director

Work Location: Norton Shores, Michigan

The Organization. We are a community health and education foundation. Our mission is to measurably improve fundamental wellness in the Muskegon-Lakeshore area. We do this by addressing four key needs: access to healthcare, nutrition, physical activity, and a sense of belonging. We offer community health grants, medical education scholarships, CME for healthcare providers, and a program for high school students of all backgrounds who would like to become physicians. Ideal Candidate. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating two educational programs:

· Western Michigan Osteopathic Association - a continuing medical education (CME) program for healthcare providers

·  OsteoScholars – an educational program for high school students interested in a career in healthcare.

Do these things describe you?

· We work with a variety of healthcare providers, members, and students. You’ll need to be a stickler for details, actively follow up, and deliver excellent customer service.

· Our CME programs require planning and regulatory approvals. We will train you in the process, but you’ll need to manage this process carefully and meet every deadline ahead of schedule without fail.

· When we communicate with our constituents, we must convey credibility, respect, and care. This means that accuracy, grammar, professionalism and attention to detail are essential.

· We have a small office that moves at a quick pace. You will need to work independently, juggle many tasks, stay organized, and keep projects on schedule.

· We are happy to offer flexibility with a hybrid work schedule. 

· You will need to coordinate one monthly evening meeting for OsteoScholars September – June and two WMOA morning conferences, October & May.

· We’re looking for a person we can invest in and train to become an expert, so we’d like someone who can commit to this role for 3 years or more.

Qualifications. A qualified candidate must:

1. Have at least 3 years of experience working with Excel, Outlook, and executive support functions

2. Support the mission and values of the Osteopathic Foundation/WMOA

3. Execute tasks efficiently, accurately, and with high attention to detail

4. Demonstrate excellent writing skills and use of grammar

5. Possess strong organizational skills for monitoring multiple tasks and deadlines

6. Be willing and able to take initiative, work with limited supervision, meet deadlines, and learn new subjects and skills

7. Present and conduct himself or herself in a professional manner

8. Be willing and able to pass a background check

Responsibilities. The Coordinator will promote the work and mission of the Foundation by:

1. Coordinating the functions of the Western Michigan Osteopathic Association:

a. Work with the WMOA Leadership Committee to plan and promote two annual one-day conferences

b. Implement all planning tasks affiliated with the conferences - reserve venue, confirm sponsors and presenters, document attendance, etc.

c. Work with the WMOA Leadership Committee to develop curriculum and confirm presenters

d. Process all CME approvals through the Michigan Osteopathic Association and other entities as needed

e. Keep the leadership team on schedule with regular communication, reminders and quarterly meetings

f. Record lectures, publish and maintain online CME attendance and participation records

g. Manage memberships, payments, and documentation

h. Support outreach to new and potential members; promote conferences and programs

i. Develop and maintain good working relationships with sponsors and other partners

2. Coordinating the OsteoScholars program:

a. Organize, prepare for, and attend monthly meetings September – May

b. Organize, prepare for and attend annual trip to MSUCOM

c. Communicate with students by email and track responses.

d. Maintain accurate databases to track attendance, assignments, permission slips, etc.

e. Coordinate with teachers, principals, guidance counselors, and other program advocates.

f. Assist with curriculum development as needed

3. Developing and publishing reports on program and outcomes

4. Supporting communication, press, social media, and website initiatives as needed

5. Organizing board and committee meeting materials, keeping appropriate records of same

6. Working in conjunction with volunteers and volunteer committees

7. Other duties as assigned
