Anticipated opening for the 2024-2025 School Year.Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to ensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong learners.��As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.This is an 11-month position.

Main Purpose of Job

Toassist the coaches with athletic injuries; attend practices and home athleticevents; maintain a well-equipped, clean training room, work with the StudentHealth Center regarding illnesses and injuries of student/athletes; adhere tothe policies and procedures outlined in the MSD Parent/Student Handbook;maintain professional training and/or certification; and assume otherresponsibilities as designated by the Athletic Director.This position will report to the Athletic Director.

POSITION DUTIES

Toprovide care and prevention of athletic injuries; attend Varsity, JuniorVarsity and Middle School practices and home athletic events; maintain a wellequipped, clean training room; work with the Student Health Center regardingillnesses and injuries of student/athletes. Possess strong communication,interpersonal, and organizational skills. Perform evaluations and diagnosesand/or make referrals, provide emergency care, and educate athletes, coaches,and parents about injury prevention. Strong knowledge of maintaining accuraterecords of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans. Ensure compliancewith regulations and guidelines. Exhibit strong communication skills, a deepunderstanding of sports-related injuries, and the ability to workcollaboratively with coaches, medical professionals, and athletes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Maintaincurrent certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by theNational Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification; maintain currentstate license in accordance with Maryland. Maintain current certification inCPR/First aid.Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field. NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) Certification required; from the Board of Certification (BOC) State license in accordance with Maryland; willingness to obtain certification required First Aid and CPR certification.Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)preferred; willingness to learn required.Fluency in written English required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degreeAbility to communicate in AmericanSign LanguagePrevious experience working withathletes in a high school, college or professional setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
