**Hiring Range anticipated to be $32.00 - $39.07 per hour. Full salary range for the position is $31.26 - $46.89 per hour.**
Candidates are required to attach one writing sample (any type of document is fine: email, report, paper, memo, letter).
Primary Purpose: Performs skilled review of building, and building systems plans for compliance with applicable building codes and ordinances related to project design, construction, alteration, repair and related zoning and land use matters. From time-to-time conducts field inspections of construction sites for compliance with approved plans and relevant building and land use codes as needed.
Supervision Received: Works with direct supervision of the Sr. Plan Examiner and general supervision of the Building Division Manager and other senior management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in architecture, architectural engineering, construction engineering / management or closely related field; Or Graduation from a four year High School / Associate’s Degree and equivalent combination of experience. Preferred: Either of the above w/International Code Council (ICC) certification(s) or similar training and experience.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in plan review, inspections, or an equivalent combination of educational certification, training and experience in construction practices and procedures.
Certification or License: Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Must obtain International Code Council (ICC) Certification(s) as Residential Building Plans Examiner, Commercial Building Plans Examiner within 24 months of date hired. And obtain other relevant certifications as part of on-going professional development as directed.

Primary duties involve work within an active general office environment and out-of-the-office field inspection of construction sites. In-office work includes detailed examination of building and mechanical plans, and conferences with residents, builders and design professionals. A Plan Examiner Inspector may be exposed to cold, wet, hot and humid weather conditions. Inspections may be required to be performed in high places and the inspector may experience loud noises comparable to the conditions experienced by a typical Building Inspector.
Tools and Equipment Used:
Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, a motor vehicle, a computer with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise database software applications regarding permitting and payroll modules, standard office automation software applications, a plan review light table, architectural and engineering scales, a drafting triangle, calculator, copier, printer, scanner, fax machine, and a plan reproduction machine, cell phone and various code enforcement tools and equipment.
