Third Street Music School is Hiring a Development Associate (Temporary) Near New York, NY

POSITION OVERVIEW

Working with the Director of Development, the Development Associate will assist with donor relations, stewardship, acknowledgement, and events. Responsible for gift entry and processing, solicitation mailings, supporting digital communications, Raiser’s Edge and Sharepoint maintenance, liaising with finance and administration staff, prospect research, and assisting with receptions and fundraising events.

Part-time temporary position (3-4 months) with the potential to transition to a permanent position.

In-office, 3 days per week (M, W, Th)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Support the day-to-day operations of the development department including gift entry, acknowledgement letters, prospect research, and cultivation efforts.

· Responsible for all gift processing including batching and data entry, monthly financial reconciliations and credit card processing.

· Oversee Raiser’s Edge database maintenance, policies and procedures, run queries and reports as required, assist with constituent imports and records.

· Support with mailings of acknowledgement letters, grant proposals, solicitations, and newsletter.

· Serve as the primary liaison with the Finance department; work regularly with them to reconcile revenue quarterly and for the annual audit.

· Oversee all in-kind donations, including gift acceptance, administration, and stewardship.

· Interact with donors in response to inquiries.

· Assist with prospect research.

· Maintain monthly revenue reports to create annual projections.

· Manage miscellaneous procedures and registrations, such as matching gifts, and donor-advised fund portals.

· Develop solicitation tracking schedules to ensure appropriate and timely solicitation and closure of pledges and asks.

· Support with donor/prospect research, photocopying, scanning, ordering supplies, answering phones.

· Assist with all special events and receptions involving stewardship, cultivation and fundraising.

· Accomplish any other department or organization-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

· One or more years related work experience preferred

· Ability to adhere to comprehensive production schedule and meet deadlines

· Detail-oriented, highly organized

· Excellent, clear and compelling writing and communications skills, as well as editing and proof-reading capabilities

· Working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and fund-raising software

· Capacity to multi-task as a team player

· Capable of cultivating relationships both internally and externally

· Basic math competency for budgeting and reporting

· Proficiency in accessing and using research tools, desktop publishing/graphic design, photography, video and audio recording, social media, and other computer and internet applications

· Knowledge of and ability to engender appreciation of music, arts and arts education

Third Street serves 5,000 students annually, enriching their lives and communities.

Third Street’s core programs include: 1) music and dance instruction for people of all ages, offered seven days a week; 2) public school, public housing, and community partnerships (Third Street Partners) providing instruction in 30 underserved schools and community centers; 3) a music-infused preschool for students 6 months to five years; and 4) a performance program with over 250 live and virtual concerts annually for more than 10,000 audience members at Third Street and celebrated venues across NYC.
