Sea-Land Chemical is Hiring a Technical Specialist Near Cleveland, OH

Sea-Land is an employee-owned specialty chemical distributor in Cleveland, Ohio. For 60 years, Sea-Land has provided agile, comprehensive, and technology-driven solutions for our customers’ chemical supply, inventory requirements, and product development needs.

Sea-Land is seeking a Technical Specialist to provide support on inquiries from the sales team, customers, and supplier partners on the proper use of the organization’s broad portfolio of chemical technologies. The position is responsible for supporting the execution of the technical training programs to ensure the operations and commercial team is proficient in the technical features and benefits of the products in the portfolio. The Technical Specialist interacts daily with product management, marketing, and supplier relations on the launch of new products to our commercial team, providing technical support and training as needed. The Technical Specialist executes the laboratory safety, ISO, and Responsible Distribution programs, while supporting regulatory and quality programs with timely input as needed. The position supports the Sea-Land technical brand by participating actively in industry technical groups and attending and presenting at technical conferences.

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in a technical role in the chemical industry
  • Experience working in an industrial chemical laboratory, participating actively in a new product development program.
  • Experience formulating compounded industrial products for the lubricant industry and/or household, industrial and institutional cleaners, with a deep understanding of end-user applications.
  • High degree of problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to translate technical information for and work collaboratively with a variety of people
  • Initiative and deep curiosity to learn
  • Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP/CRM systems
