Cook-Job Description
Purpose:
Responsible for the preparation of food and the cleanliness of kitchen and food storage areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
? Prepare Breakfast, A.M. snack, Lunch, & P.M snack and have ready on time according to the schedule
? Keep food appropriate temperatures
? Have an appropriate amount of food for each class prepared
? Wash dishes, disinfect dishes, dry and store dishes
? Wipe up/clean and disinfect tables & counters
? Wipe down/Clean stoves, microwaves, fridges, & freezers
? Sweep lunchroom and kitchen floor (Mop as necessary)
? Monitor food supplies & order as needed
? Date and put away orders
? Budget food supplies to minimize costs.
? Keep the paperwork for the Food Program up to date and organized
? Maintain standards of sanitation, health, safety & nutrition
Minimum Qualifications:
? High school diploma or equivalency
? Basic knowledge of food preparation and nutrition
? Ability to read, write, and do simple arithmetic
? Clean and neat appearance
? Relate to both children and adults
? Consistent attendance
? Physical examination by a physician
? Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
? Background check completed
? Demonstrate the following qualities:
*Self-motivation
*follow directions
*make good judgments
*respond immediately to any emergency situation
? Physical constraints required include:
* ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without hearing aid
*ability to see/read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
*speak and be understood under normal circumstances
*lift and carry children/items weighing up to 50 pounds
*use of arms, hands, legs & feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuation of the building during emergencies
