POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Our Teacher position at the Children’s Kiva Montessori School (CKMS) is an opportunity to build bright futures with a global perspective! The Teacher in this position will be responsible for managing an inclusive classroom of about 20 students in a multi-grade level classroom 4 days a week. The teacher will strive to maintain a Montessori inspired classroom environment that provides an educational atmosphere where all students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. Teachers are supported by the Head of School and by collaborating with a staff of colleagues to use Montessori practices with our EL and Eureka Math curriculums to meet State academic standards while fostering intellectual curiosity and a love of learning among their students. In addition, Teachers will be expected to develop strong relationships with each child and family enrolled in their classroom, provide parent updates, participate in all school functions and fair share of responsibilities, attend staff-collaboration Fridays (about once a month), and support student transition services. Our Teachers are involved in the development of the whole child and facilitate higher-order thinking and reasoning that ensures our students will be ready to THRIVE in high school and beyond. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree and background check are required; CDE Teaching License, Master’s degree, and Experience in Education are preferred.
  • Pass requisite state testing to be Highly Qualified in Elementary Education by Colorado State Law.
  • Professional Teachers License within the State of Colorado, or eligible within one year of hire preferred.
  • Experience analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and instruction.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TEACHER:

  • Participate as a flexible team who gets along well with all school stakeholders with a positive, fun-loving demeanor.
  • Develop and/or implement lessons to meet State and Federal Academic Standards using our EL and Eureka Math curriculum with a Montessori inspired environment targeted with the end goal of student performance at or above grade level expectations.
  • Teach and enforce school-wide systems, rules and consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all times while promoting positive student self-concept.
  • Analyze student achievement data in collaboration with the Head of School.
  • Implement standards-based data tracking systems and use data to inform instructional development and delivery.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with students and families.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development learning activities and at least one committee.
  • Maintain a beautifully prepared, organized, clean, safe and stimulating environment for the children. 
  • Supervise assistant teachers and support their professional development with a spirit of collegiality and collaboration, modeling appropriate and professional behavior at all times.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with other teachers and staff.
  • Participate in the instruction of the school’s Health and Wellness lunch curriculum, eating with students and implementing lunch-time curriculum if needed.
  • Participate in additional activities including field trips, intensive academic support sessions, gallery exhibits of student learning, and other required programs/events throughout the year. 
  • Support and facilitate additional testing/assessments (NWEA, Dibels, etc)
  • Support specialized educational programs and interventions, participate in our RtI process, and Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEPs, ALPs and 504s.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • While performing the physical duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to run a short distance, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance.

This is a salaried position, contracted for 148 Student Contact Days and a minimum of 163 Staff Work days. Salary schedule is competitive and performance based and can be accessed via the Financial Transparency link on our website at www.kivacharter.org

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability in interpreting assessment data collected from a variety of sources. 
  • Willingness to be a contributing member of the school.
