Position: Tribal Youth Life Coach (Elevated Youth California)
Salary: Up to $25.00 per hour, DOE
Hours: Full-Time
Reports To: Social Services Director

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Social Services Director, the Tribal Youth Life Coach will work with Big Valley Tribal Members, ages 12 – 26 years, to provide alternative paths away from the criminal system and substance abuse and decrease youth homelessness. Training, educational workshops, and cultural healing practices will be fundamental to the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Tribal youth outreach.
2. Advocacy in the judicial and school system.
3. Home visits.
4. Court and Probation Accompaniment.
5. Mentor youth with daily living skills such as personal health, managing money, managing time, finding housing and maintaining a living space.
6. Facilitate Tribal youth talking circles.
7. Coordinate training, such as job skills, for the youth.
8. Youth activities.
9. Implements/maintains/continues case plans and management.
10. Provide resources as needed.
11. Provide transportation.
12. Assist youth in accessing community resources.
13. Works collaboratively with staff and community agencies to support the needs of Tribal youth.
14. Attends professional development meetings and training opportunities to provide the best service possible for the Tribal youth.
15. Represents Big Valley Rancheria at local community meetings and/or events.

16. Always maintain confidentiality of information.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working with Tribal youth and families.
2. Experience in case management.
3. Experience in conducting culturally appropriate support groups and education.
4. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
5. Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
6. Must have the ability to maintain a cooperative, diplomatic working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, and the community.
7. Must demonstrate flexibility in work settings, maturity of judgment, and ability to work well with others.
8. Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office and Zoom.
9. Must have a valid CA Driver’s License and meet eligibility requirements for insurance coverage.
10. Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
11. Successful completion of Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screening.
