Summary: Smart Structures is a global leader in wireless Embedded Data Collector (EDC) solutions precast into concrete. Smart Structures solutions improve the quality of bridge pilings and deep foundations and can dramatically alter the cost and time dynamics of traditional test pile programs by enabling real-time testing of all foundation elements. The Electronics Technician will assist in the manufacture of strain gauges and electronic assemblies. This position will follow the manufacturing procedures with precise detail. The Electronics Technician will troubleshoot defective assemblies and develop the process to eliminate defects.

Competencies
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree in Electronic Technology or related field, or have completed an apprenticeship or a post-secondary certificate program that included a hands-on internship.
Skills/Requirements
Soldering and component removal/replacement experience.
Basic electronics knowledge.
Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking
Strong desire to be a part of a start-up/high-growth company with an entrepreneurial spirit and a fast-paced, results-oriented culture.
Must be a strong team player or able to work independently.
Self-driven, detail-oriented with an analytical mindset
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, i.e. Word and Excel
Highly accurate with attention to detail
Teamwork coordinating with other administrators and employees.
Ability to shift priorities and adjust to new demands when needed.
Must be able to pass a background check, and drug screen and have an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment and on construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job also requires the use of shop tools such as saws, grinders, drills, soldering irons, ovens, and torches. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While on-site, the employee may lift or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work outside in the elements and able to climb uneven terrain. May have exposure to heights over 50’.
Travel
This position does involve traveling to project/construction sites.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Dependent on workload, hours may be somewhat flexible, and some late evenings and weekends may be required.
