Summary/Objective

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for completing irrigation service work for commercial properties and homeowner associations. With a solid knowledge of irrigation systems, the Irrigation Technician ensures systems are performing according to quality standards.

How You Would Contribute to the Team

Following safety protocols, you would:

  • Maintain irrigation system functionality that includes but is not limited to, adjusting wiring controllers and valves, pressure testing, trenching/pulling pipe, installing heads, rotors, valves, main and lateral lines, drip line, bubblers.
  • Use company trenchers, pullers, trucks, etc.
  • Maintain and check equipment (trenchers, pullers, trucks, tools and vehicles, etc.) to ensure it is safe and in good working condition.
  • Submit appropriate documentation on systems and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Order necessary materials
  • Interpret irrigation plans and drawings.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned or instructed by Superintendent

Required and Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in irrigation service required.
  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable on the company’s insurance.
  • Irrigation Certified (CIT) is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and detail oriented.
  • Must be professional in appearance and actions.
  • Great time management skills; available for seasonal long hours including weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.

Work Environment

  • This role performs work on site at various commercial properties and residential communities.
  • The job requires constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements, pollen, and dust. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in landscaping.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, and position parts and materials.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear. Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements, pollen, and dust.
  • This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in landscaping.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, approximately 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This position may require long hours and weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day.
