JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Choral Director

Reports To: Superintendent and Building Principal

Qualification: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of Education

Terms of Employment: 190 days with benefits provided according to Magnolia School District policies. 

1. Provides music instruction through the choir.
2. To provide appropriate choir performance experience for students enrolled in the choir. 
3. Provides reasonable music support for school assemblies. 
4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 
5. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
6. Prepares various choirs for Regional, State, and National Competitions 
7. Work collaboratively with the content team (Professional Learning Community) and grade-level interdisciplinary team.
8. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior. 
9. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
10. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 
11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. 
12. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
13. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees required.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is potentially a shared position between Magnolia Middle School (grades 6-8) and Magnolia High School (grades 9-12). Other job responsibilities are to be identified in collaboration with the high school choir director.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
2. Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
5. Serve on committees as assigned.
6. Remain current on instructional practices in education.
