JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Research & Development
REPORTS TO: Sr. Systems Engineering Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Candidate must have extensive experience pertaining to automation, electrical safety and reliability standards, inspection, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develop electrical wiring drawings such as cable termination, cable schedule, control panel wiring, and grounding details
Develop control panel wiring and installation drawings
Installation, wiring of pressure, flow, temperature transmitters, motor controllers and other field
Installations, wiring on on/off valves and control valves
Building and wiring of electrical panels
PLC and DCS cards wiring
Panel wiring and troubleshooting in live AC panels
Experience in panel assembly
Loop checking of field instruments with SCADA, PLC or DCS operator interface
Setup and troubleshoot of network and communication protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc
Wire panels and instruments as required
Troubleshoot interface of field instruments with control systems at factory and site
Assist Automation and Electrical engineers in troubleshooting process control issues
Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned
Other work as assigned to support projects and / or customer expectations
Execute other tasks as assigned
Produce quarterly reports and other presentation materials suitable for upper management
Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information
Make sure that clients’ needs are met as projects evolve
Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all stakeholders
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
Other duties as specified by Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
5 years working with instrumentation, networks, various transducers/sensors, transmitters, wiring, panel wiring, etc
Thorough understanding of P&IDs, wiring diagrams and instrumentation
Practical understanding of control systems including power regulation, logic controllers (digital and analog I/O), sensors, wiring best practices, motor controls, etc
Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs./ 23 kilograms
Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site
Required to stand for long periods of time and may involve heavy manual labor
You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items
Exposure to loud noises
Ability to wear personal protective equipment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate or Engineering Degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Up to 10% travel may be required.
Must have reliable, appropriate transportation.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Project is required
Experience with G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Hangouts, etc.).
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.
Must display strong critical thinking skills
