The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting environmental, health, and safety at the Forest Park chemical manufacturing site. This position will interface with operations personnel to support and address their safety concerns, to enhance the safety culture and improve the site’s EHS performance. You will also perform various EHS inspections, review/audit inspections and forms, completed by other departments. This individual must be a self-starter and provide visible EHS leadership to other site personnel and positively promote the belief that aggressive EHS goals can be achieved.

Health and Safety: Support plant health and safety programs by coordinating the tracking and delivery of required and task specific training. Ensure certifications are maintained, safety practices including critical life safety policies and procedures are adhered to including; confined space, hot work, safe work permit, OSHA, DOT, and Polynt-Reichhold. Support and coordinate compliance with the PSM program. Interface with hourly workforce and contractors to ensure compliance with safety program. Champion safety awareness efforts throughout the workplace. Maintain air monitoring equipment (LEL meters and PIDs) and assist with annual respirator fit testing.

Risk Assessment and Reduction: Implement, maintain and continuously improve occupational safety through conducting risk assessments, inspections, job safety analysis, etc.; facilitates safety incident investigations and track investigation action items to closure; and takes a hands-on approach in order to provide the necessary persuasion and influence to improve the facility’s EHS performance.

Environmental programs: Support the facility’s environmental programs, i.e.: hazardous / non-hazardous waste management inspections and that waste is handled / disposed properly; assisting with the operation of the Industrial and sanitary wastewater facilities, and conducting Stormwater, SPCC, Industrial wastewater treatment inspections.

Requirements:

· 5 years’ experience in an EHS or related position

· Chemical industry experience preferred

· Experience in managing PSM program requirements.

· College degree, Occupational Health and Safety preferred or equivalent

· Strong knowledge of regulations: OSHA, RCRA, DOT, NFPA, etc.

· Strong written communication, presentation/training delivery, interpersonal relation skills

· MS Office Suite knowledge and skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

· SAP working knowledge a plus.
