Medical Assistant

This position of for a busy general dermatology practice. The chosen candidate will perform as a MA at the Los Angeles based office which is a high volume location that provides medical dermatology services and some cosmetic services. The suitable candidate will manage both front office and back office activities.

Ideal candidate prefers a fast paced environment where the ability to anticipate the doctor's needs is required.

EMR experience is essential. You must consider yourself computer literate. Additionally, must be fluent in English and Spanish, with a high level of vocabulary (including medical vocabulary) and good grammar skills in both languages.

DUTIES

Front Office Duties

Front-office duties include telephone coverage, patient check-in with cheerful attitude, appointment scheduling, new patient registration, checking insurance eligibility and obtaining authorizations, collecting co-pays filling out and submitting insurance forms, sorting mail, scheduling lab tests, updating patient records, ordering supplies, maintaining physician calendar, maintaining unbilled visits, phoning in to and or electronically sending prescriptions to various pharmacies, protecting patient privacy and maintains HIPAA standards.

Back Office Duties

Back-office duties include escorting patients to exam or procedure room(s), taking patient medical histories, checking vital signs, changing the dressing on wounds, removing sutures, drawing blood, collecting lab specimens, updating patient demographic and clinical information into EMR system, scheduling medical procedures, instructing patients on proper usage of medications, sterilizing medical instruments and maintaining cleanliness of patient rooms, set-up and turning over exam rooms and trays for cosmetic, laser and surgical procedures and protecting patient privacy and maintains HIPAA standards.

· Being English/Spanish bilingual.

· Computer literacy and some familiarity with electronic medical records.

· Protection of the dermatology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

· Desire to enhance the dermatology practice’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Ability to be patient and other focused.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education/Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and Medical Assistant

certification or equivalent combination of education and training/experience. Higher

educational qualifications desirable.

Five years MA experience desired, but other candidates with less experience will be

considered. Greater consideration will be given to candidates with dermatology experience.

· Physical Requirements:

Good physical health, ability to move freely, good coordination and good manual dexterity

required.

Compensation consistent with experience. Hours will be Monday through Friday.
