Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to join our team. This pivotal leadership role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EH&S programs that comply with stringent regulations and promote a safe and healthy workplace. The EH&S Manager will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and sustainability, ensuring that our operations not only meet but exceed industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. EH&S Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement strategies for EH&S management.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to regulatory agencies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in EH&S regulations and standards, and implement necessary updates to company policies and procedures.
3. Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver EH&S training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and specialized programs.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management through regular communication and engagement.
4. Incident Management:
- Lead investigations of EH&S incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of incidents and track trends to identify areas for improvement.
5. Sustainability Initiatives:
- Promote and implement sustainable practices within the company, focusing on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and pollution prevention.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate sustainability into business operations and decision-making processes.
6. Leadership and Collaboration:
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic guidance on EH&S matters.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and other departments to ensure EH&S considerations are integrated into all aspects of the business.
- Lead and mentor the EH&S team, fostering a collaborative and proactive approach to safety management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EH&S role, preferably within the manufacturing or metal recycling industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EH&S regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful EH&S programs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant certifications preferred.
